Today, I drove to western Massachusetts and back for work. A bit tired from 7 hours of driving, but was able to pick up Allison and Lizzie in Manhattan and drop off the car at Newark airport. Traffic was pretty horrendous to Newark around the tunnel (no surprise there). However, upon arrival, we learned that our flight was delayed 2.5 hours...
So, we promptly decided to eat at Gallagher's Steakhouse and ordered a bottle of red wine. Over our steak sandwiches and BLT, we chatted about our goals for the trip and some itinerary ideas. You might ask, why are we doing this now?
Well, although Allison and I have been talking about Brazil since January / February, I had invited Lizzie on a whim when I ran into her at Pick-A-Bagel on the Upper East side in April. Allison is a friend from my 5 year Zog football team called Sweep the Leg; and Lizzie is my best friend Amanda's roommate and law school friend.
Over only a few emails in the past 3 weeks, we figured out the important stuff (pretty much they trusted me with all the logistics) and Allison and Lizzie have only hung out a few times. They both mentioned to me they thought the other person was great.
So as the meat to this white bread sandwich, we sit sleepily waiting for our delayed flight. At least we have meal vouchers from United which we used to stock up on snacks. Boa noite!
