Peruvian Cooking

This morning Jamie had organized for us to take a Peruvian cooking class at Casa de Avila. The class starts with an hour walk through the local market. We learned about herbs, frog juice, various fruits, and etc.

For the class, we prepared stuffed peppers, a potato pie, and a salad along with 4 retired Canadian teachers and a Dutch couple. Here's a collage of pictures from the experience:

As the class took a lot out of me, I decided to head back to the hotel and rest. Jamie and Caitlin went sight-seeing. They visited the San Francisco and Compania churches. They also visited a local museum called Museo Santuarios Andinos that housed a mummy named Juanita. She was a sacrificed girl to one of the volcanoes between 1440 and 1470.

We met at the hotel and headed to the airport where they insisted on opening all the bags and we had to re-organize our luggage due to the weight requirements.

The flight was about 1 hour to Lima and you could feel the elevation difference as soon as we landed. We got a cab and made it to our hotel, the Sheraton in Miraflores. 2 nights left in Peru in the capital city!
