Kaimana... Feeling Local

Today was our first work day and we figured out the kinks of the business center bookings and WiFi, and successfully worked from 3 am to 11 am to match with east coast business hours. I got excited to confirm on my VPN, yes it’s me in Hawaii!

For breakfast, we had musubi of course, açaí bowls, and fried chicken pictured here:

Although I worked in the business center, here’s a collage that shows what co-working looked like in the condo, with beautiful views, and of course favorite corgi, Baro:

Today's agenda was driving around 30 minutes eastward and to hike the Makapu‘u Point Lighthouse Trail. The hike is less than an hour round trip and it was a bit humid, but with beautiful views and plenty of wind. A few pictures here including the lighthouse...

Christina’s fun nails matching the crashing waves and in celebration of Hawaii:

On the way back to Honolulu, we stopped at this lookout and took photos. I don’t remember the name, but must be pretty famous as there was a couple taking wedding photos:

We then stopped by Kaimana beach. Kaimana means local and at this beach, there aren’t any tourists. Our wonderful Hawaiian co-host had studied abroad here in Hawaii during university and therefore we really had a localized experience as we learn about the neighborhoods, get tested about the facts, and tease each other about getting the answers correct.

After showering, we headed out to Mama Pho in Ala Moana mall as we had a hankering for comforting broth:

We then headed to Don Quixote, the local Japanese store where we picked up some sundries and gifts including nuts, spam, and Kahi beauty sticks. Here’s a wall of various pocky flavors:

Indeed we felt local as we did a local hike, swam at a local beach, and shopped at a local grocery store! Team Musubi is feeling very Kaimana as we get acquainted in our wonderful Hawaiian surroundings and vibes!
