My Dad's Family

Today, the plan was to spend the day with my dad’s side of the family. My father was one of four brothers. Here’s an old school 70s photo and from my left to right: 3rd-4th-my dad who was the 2nd-1st.



Here they are with my grandparents at their 50th wedding anniversary in 1986 and from left to right: 3rd-1st-4th-my dad:



Their graves are in Bundang (분당) about 30 minutes south and my great grandparents, grandparents, 1st and 4th uncles are here:





Our 2nd aunt, my dad’s younger sister, escorted us to the gravesite and we enjoyed snacks and the views of the cherry trees on the hillside:





We returned to Seoul and had a delicious lunch with 3rd uncle and aunt at Homuran (호무랑) in the Josun Hotel:



We are looking in different directions in this photo as my Luddite aunt uses a film camera:



Here’s also a photo from 1989 with my 3rd uncle when we were visiting and with my cousin Yeonhang (연항). This photo makes me smile and laugh at the same time - oh the 80s!



In the afternoon, my 2nd aunt brought her elder sister to stop by our hotel and we enjoyed ice cream snacks:





We then met with the 3rd family again for dinner at Sushi Sunsoo (선수) and also joining were my cousin, Yeontae’s (연태) lovely kids, Yoon (윤) and Mi-Sol (미솔), both in college:







Today was a lovely day of spending time with my father’s surviving siblings while paying respects to those who have passed and in honor of that, an old school photo of all of them with my grandparents…
