Waikiki Wednesday

During most weeks, we think of Wednesday as hump day, but today was Waikiki Wednesday.

After a full day of work ending by noon, we headed over to Waikiki which has some luxurious shopping. We walked around and drank local coffee at Island Vintage. Here’s a photo of the main drag lined with shops:

Then the team split up and I ventured with about half the group to Ala Moana mall which is our overall happy place. We’ve been here so many times while we’ve been here to run errands, to eat, and to shop.

By mid-afternoon we were feeling peckish as the Singaporeans would say. So we headed to the food court and had some dumplings and fried chicken:

We then headed over to doggy daycare where we picked up Baro who was trying out the place for the day before an overnight this weekend when we go to Big Island.

Tonight we had plans to eat dinner at our co-host’s favorite Japanese izakaya restaurant, Imanas. True to form, we probably over ordered as we had sushi, sashimi, soft shell crab, futomaki, tempura, butter fish, white miso soup, and tofu. It was all so delicious and in usual form, we ate it all like champs.

After dinner, we drove around and got to see the University of Hawaii campus and got to hear about the different buildings and school. It’s pretty different having so many programs dedicated to the study of Asian American culture and Asian experiences.

We then headed home for an early night and some relaxation as half the week was done!
